What is HIFU Treatment?
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a relatively new cosmetic treatment. Previously used to treat cancers of different types, now the "go to" treatment for targeting various depths of the body’s tissue to produce skin tightening, skin lifting and body contouring. First used in Aesthetics in 2008 -for brow lift, now used for non-surgical facelifts
Entirely non-invasive, HIFU works by targeting deep layers in the skin – it boosts new collagen production and collagen regeneration right at the source. It is sometime called the ‘Lunchtime Face Lift’ as the treatment is quick, very tolerable and has no downtime.
Here comes the Science
Using ultrasound energy HIFU machines target the layers of skin just below the surface causing the tissue to heat up rapidly. This results in cellular damage at the right temperature. The damage stimulates the cells to produce more collagen. The increase in collagen results in tighter, firmer skin with fewer wrinkles. Since the high-frequency ultrasound beams are focused on a specific tissue site below the skin’s surface, there’s no damage to the upper layers of the skin and adjacent tissue.
